New Water Restrictions in Effect Due to State Drought
In response to the CA State Water Resources Board vote to raise the state's Drought Level to Stage 2 in May. San Diego Public Utilities Department and local water districts throughout the Southern California Region are introducing new restrictions on water usage in accordance with Drought Level Stage 2 actions.
One of the restrictions limits watering landscapes between 6:00 PM and 10:00 AM. Additionally, some water agencies limit the number of days properties can water their landscapes. Commercial and industrial properties are prohibited from watering decorative lawns and operating outdoor water fountains and other monuments. Construction projects are now required to use recycled or non-potable water. Use the links below to find your respective water district and learn about additional restrictions.

San Diego County Rolling Out New Organic Recycling Regulations on August 1, 2022
SCRHA recently attended a webinar presented by theCounty of San Diego's Public Works Department. It was an update regarding the implementation of the Recycling Waste Policy that was amended in June 2021. The presentation discussed new requirements for single-family units, multifamily housing, and businesses in the county's unincorporated area starting on August 1, 2022. There are separate organic recycling regulations for densely and sparsely-populated areas.
Residents and multifamily properties must comply with new rules, such as keeping organic, recyclable material separate from the trash, and will be responsible for arranging the proper collection, storage, and transport of discarded materials. Residents will have to subscribe to a 3-stream collection service. Some residential properties can apply for an exemption if they meet specific requirements.
