Signage on Rental Property

Signage on Rental Property

Federal, state, county, and city regulations require rental property owners and managers to post specific signs in common or specific areas on rental property. Signs serve the purpose of reminding staff, tenants, and guests of existing rules and regulations concerning a building’s features, health and safety, which activities are permissible or prohibited, and/or what materials and substances that might be present on the rental property.

This white paper provides an overview of what kind of signs a rental property may be required to post; however, a rental property could be required to post additional signs that are not mentioned in this white paper. SCRHA (Southern California Rental Housing Association) members should contact their city or county departments to check for other signage requirements that may apply. SCRHA also has available other white papers providing more specific signage requirements for rental property.
