Meeting of the Membership

At the Meeting of the Membership, attendees will vote on the incoming 2024 board members. The meeting is free to all SCRHA members, and there is one vote per company.

You must register to attend the meeting by 9:30 AM on Friday, September 29, 2023. Please assign the person voting for your company before the meeting. 

Immediately following the meeting, the SCRHA will feature a lively discussion on 2024, the year of rent control battles at both the federal and state level. There is a fee for this portion of the event, which includes brunch.

• Christine LaMarca, Independent Owner, Past California Rental Housing Association (CalRHA) Chair

Lou Penrose, Co-Host of Slater & Lou on KOGO Radio, political consultant, and former Apartment Association Executive. 

Overview:

Rick and Jay will discuss the industry scene from a national level, NAA's advocacy program, as well as the federal rent control proposal and the efforts to stop it. Rick will also discuss his upcoming year as Chair of NAA.

Christine and Allison will discuss the Justice for Renters Act, the November 2024 California ballot measure that seeks to repeal the Costa-Hawkins Rental Housing Act and expand rent control. They will highlight CalRHA's plan to defeat the measure and also review some of the bills that CalRHA and SCRHA fought in 2023.
