Legislative Update
2026 California State Legislative Bill Update
Live Webinar for Rental Housing Professionals | Presented by Molly Kirkland, Director of Public Affairs
We’re Winning in Sacramento—But the Fight Isn’t Over
The 2026 Legislative Session hit the ground running, and SCRHA hasn’t missed a beat. After securing a pivotal victory in January by blocking stricter rent caps, we’ve kept that momentum alive. From sponsoring a bill to axe California’s outdated resident manager requirements to sending dozens of volunteers to the Capitol in April, we are actively stopping dangerous policies in their tracks. But the real test is here. May is a month of critical deadlines, and bills must clear their house of origin by May 29. We are on the front lines monitoring high-stakes legislation on eviction moratoriums and pet mandates, while pushing for wins like attainable insurance, mortgage forbearance, and new tax credits.
This webinar is free for SCRHA members. Non-members may register for just $65.
