The rules surrounding no-fault termination of tenancy and security deposits will be changing some in the coming months. SB 567 goes into effect on April 1, 2024, altering some of the rules and requirements when terminating tenancy for a substantial remodel and for owner/family member move in to the property. There are very limited exceptions to this law, so it's critical that you understand the law to avoid potential penalties.
