Important Update: Federal Government Shutdown
The federal government has entered a shutdown, which could impact rental housing providers in a few ways. Section 8 subsidy payments may be delayed, and some residents who are federal employees could have trouble paying rent if the shutdown continues for an extended period of time. Our Public Housing Authority partners for the County of San Diego and City of Oceanside have confirmed that as of October 1, Housing Assistance Payments were disbursed to landlords on schedule. Additionally, partial funding for November payments have been obligated by HUD. The City of San Diego Housing Commission does not expect any immediate disruption to their programs and will be closely monitoring the situation. Questions about specific payments should be directed to the assigned housing specialist at the relevant housing authority. It should be noted that not all housing authorities have posted statements or information at this time.
