Legislative Update - January 26, 2023

Legislative Updates,

We are only three weeks into the new year, and the rental housing industry is already under attack from all levels of government.

Just this week, SCRHA members have read headlines that the City of San Diego declared housing a human right in a resolution that was unanimously approved on the same day that the Biden Administration previewed a "Renters Bill of Rights".

While the declaration from the City of San Diego contains NO SPECIFIC POLICY PROPOSALS in the resolution, we must continue to closely watch any policy proposals that may arise in the future to speak on behalf of our members.

Our National Apartment Association (NAA) advocates will remain engaged to ensure our voices are a part of the conversation while multiple federal agencies explore housing policy changes.

Tuesday's news out of San Diego and Washington, DC., make it clear that we must stay engaged to ensure our local, state, and federal representatives hear our message. By joining Southern California Rental Housing Association, you have taken the first step to support the industry.

We are calling on you to support our advocacy efforts by contributing to the SCRHA Industry Defense Fund. The SCRHA Industry Defense Fund allows us to actively fight Eviction Moratoriums, overreaching tenant protections, and the violation of ownership rights.

To be successful, we will need every member's participation to show our industry's full strength. Donate Today >
