Lemon Grove Approves Tenant Protection Ordinance

On Tuesday, September 1, the Lemon Grove City Council conducted a second reading of a Tenant Protection Ordinance, which will go into effect on January 1, 2027. As previously reported, the ordinance provides some additional protections beyond state law, however, SCRHA was able to keep the worst overly restrictive proposals out of the ordinance. Mayor Snow attempted to add additional relocation payments to the ordinance at the Tuesday hearing but did not get council support. Thank you to the members who made their voices heard in this lengthy process. SCRHA will now move on to conduct further analysis of the law and creating the necessary forms and guidance so housing providers can comply.
