Oceanside City Council to Vote on Tenant Protections, Sept. 3
The City Council is scheduled to consider a draft Tenant Protection Ordinance at their September 3 meeting at 6:00 pm. SCRHA testified against additional regulation back in April and remains opposed to additional tenant protections beyond state law. They will also receive a report on options for Rent Stabilization/Control. Click here to access the staff report and draft. A new study confirms what housing providers in San Diego already know: overregulation increases rents, especially for lower-income renters and those in small properties. Burdensome housing regulations in the San Diego metropolitan area measurably increase the cost of rent – particularly for lower-income renters and those renting from small multifamily properties, the study found.
