San Diego Council Committee Moves Rental Fee Proposal Forward
SCRHA would like to sincerely thank the hundreds of members who contacted city councilmembers and those who called in or attended the hearing. SCRHA sent in a formal letter of opposition and testified at this morning’s hearing, citing conflicts with existing law, unintended consequences, and rising costs for housing providers. The measure passed 2-0, with Councilmember Marni Von Wilpert absent. While nothing was formally adopted, the concept will move forward to another committee for drafting of specific policies. SCRHA has been promised that the process will include rental stakeholder involvement.

The County Board of Supervisors will be considering a similar measure this coming Tuesday, November 4. SCRHA will be sending out an Action Alert specific to that proposal in the coming days.
