Legislative Updates,

Take Action to Protect Resident Screening Practices
The National Apartment Association (NAA) urgently needs your help with an important advocacy matter for our industry. As part of the White House's "Blueprint for a Renters Bill of Rights," two federal agencies have requested information on resident screening practices. Please take action to tell the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) why resident screening practices are vital to the health of our industry. Click here to take action and sign up to receive future action alerts directly from the NAA.

Help SCRHA Stop Harmful Senate Bills; Contact Your Senator Today!
Thank you to everyone who has answered the SCRHA Action Alert on SB 567 (Durazo)SB 466 (Wahab), and SB 267 (Eggman). If you haven’t sent a message to your Senator, there is still time to Take Action. The bills can be heard at any time in the coming week. SB 567 would detrimentally alter the No-Fault Just Cause provisions in the Tenant Protection Act and allow for duplicative enforcement and penalties. SB 466 would change a key component of the Costa-Hawkins Rental Housing Act that helps protect against overreaching rent control. Lastly, SB 267 would restrict a housing provider’s ability to conduct credit screening for voucher-holder applicants. Make sure you are signed up for the SCRHA Action Center so you can make your voice heard!
