SCRHA Excited to Start Legislative Year with Big Win
Thank you to all the members who answered SCRHA’s Call to Action on the bill to lower rent caps. As SCRHA reported on Tuesday, after a lengthy hearing in a room packed with tenant advocates, AB 1157 failed to get enough votes to get out of the Judiciary Committee. AB 1157 would have lowered the existing rent cap to 2% plus the change in CPI, but never more than 5%. As originally introduced, it would have also removed the single-family home exemption in the Tenant Protection Act. Read More.
